January 10: NY Stop FBI Repression Meeting

As 2011 begins, the attack on anti-war and international solidarity activists is continuing.  The Justice Department kept busy in December subpoenaing more activists. Nine Palestine solidarity activists in Chicago have been called to appear before a Grand Jury later this month.  This followed the initial raids and subpoenas of 14 anti-war activists in the Midwest.  (See www.stopfbi.net).  Who will be next and when will it stop?

Please come out and join the inaugural meeting of the New York working group of the National Committee to Stop FBI Repression.  There is much work to be done to defend all of our rights to free speech and to dissent against injustice.  So far in NY – among other actions – there have been rallies, a fundraising party, a know-your-rights event and visits to elected officials.  It’s time for us to bring together our collective resources for what looks to be a long battle.

On January 10th we will meet to discuss plans for the January 25th National Day of Action to Protest FBI and Grand Jury Repression and ongoing work to defend our right to speak out for justice. The meeting will take place at 7pm at the Center for Constitutional Rights at 666 Broadway, 7th Fl (between Bleecker and Bond).

Please respond (to nycstopfbi@gmail.com) letting us know that:

  • You will come on 1/10 (individually and/or representing your organization), OR
  • You can’t come on 1/10, but you and/or your organization wants to build for a January 25th action or are interested in joining the NY working group.

Thank you.
