On May 25, 2008, Al-Awda NY’s debka troupe traveled to Dayton, Ohio to perform in a community event commemorating the 60th anniversary of Al-Nakba. Hatem Abudayyeh of the US Palestinian Community Network and Lamis Deek of Al-Awda NY spoke at the event, which combined political and cultural resistance, demanding the right of return and working to organize the Palestinian community.
