On October 20, Al-Awda New York, the US Palestinian Community Network and the Committee to Stop FBI Repression held a protest in New York City, one day before Rasmea Odeh’s hearing in Detroit. Odeh, a 67-year-old Palestinian community leader in Chicago, is facing deportation and imprisonment on charges of “unlawful procurement of naturalization,” based on her experience as a Palestinian political prisoner in Israeli jails subject to sexual assault and torture.

Al-Awda New York is part of the campaign for justice for Rasmea Odeh, demanding the U.S. government drop the charges against this outstanding community leader targeted for her Palestinian advocacy and her experience as a torture victim. Photos by Greg Butterfield.
